Transformation + Illumination

Evolving from the simple prompt of "transformation and illumination," this project is a collapsable lamp that converts from a dim, cylindrical pendant lamp to an expansive, brightly-shining chandelier. The prototype is made of mat board, foam core, and chain and utilized Adobe Illustrator and a laser cutter.

PROCESS

The images below show (from top to bottom) my inspiration and ideation sketches, some initial material tests, and my working prototype, which led to the final product above. My project drew much of its inspiration from the Ikea PS 2014 Pendant Lamp.
